Chalk Talk - Do You Mean "Finished"?

I'm learning a lot from my six year old son.

And for the past several days, I've been interrupted, many times, with just these words...

"Do you mean "finished"?"

It all started with his first grade teacher, Mr. Farley, who has been teaching students that it's far better to say, "I'm finished," rather than, "I'm done." The latter could easily be mistaken for, "I'm dumb," and we can't have that!

So my son, has been instrumental in correcting me every time.

Whenever I say things like:

Are you done?

I'm almost done.

When I'm done, I'll....

I quickly get reminded, "Do you mean "finished"?"

This happens a lot, every day.

I have to get this right.

And now I'm done. I mean finished.

Happy Thursday!
