The Best Book of Summer 2021

When I finished this book in early June, I knew it would be the BEST book I would read all summer...

In Suzanne Redfearn's page turner, In an Instant, 16 year old Finn Miller chronicles the tragic accident that killed her...the events leading up to it, the moment it happened and the hours (and later months) her family and friends would spend trying to survive the unthinkable.

This book raised many questions for me and had me thinking about it weeks after I read it. When trusted to take care of other people's children, how well do you care for them? Does this change in the midst of a crisis or emergency? If you had to choose between saving a life, who would you choose? How would you choose, and how could you live with yourself after making this choice? This book makes you confront many moral and ethical questions. Marriages are tested, and friendships are destroyed. There are so many layers to this book. It is a must read.

This book meets all my criterion as a picky reader! The book is soft covered, written well, has short chapters and it leaves me wanting more.

I've thought of this book long after reading the last page - a true testament to how good it is!  I've daydreamed about who would play the lead roles if this book would turn into a movie, and I hope it does. I have recommended this book to many friends. One even recommended it to her mom because she loved it too.

I've read several books since reading this one, and no one book has come close. It is the best book I will read this summer. I hope you read it. This one definitely makes my top 5 list!
