Teacher Appreciated

We've truly lucked out. Year after year, we've been extremely blessed with Buddy Roller's amazing teachers. It seems like each year just gets better and better, and this one is no exception...

In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, I'd like to brag about one incredible educator, my son's second grade teacher.  Mrs. Herrin has a passion for teaching, and she loves all 25 of her kids who she affectionately calls her Hurricanes. She set some really high standards and expectations from the beginning of the year in the form of homework, projects and extended learning opportunities, and I've watched my son learn and grow with enthusiasm and excitement in looking forward to going to school every day.  I mean the kid sings in the shower...songs he's learned about the moon, the planets and the sun!

This year students wrote and illustrated their own Flat Stanley stories as Mrs. Herrin taught the Hurricanes about the publishing process. And this week the students got to see their hard work pay off. All their stories were published in a book!

Page after page is filled with colorful drawings the children did themselves and beautiful descriptive writing. I know the future is full of at least 25 talented artists and creative writers!

This is a keepsake we will treasure, and we're so grateful for Mrs. Herrin. Kindergarten was awesome, first grade for amazing, and second grade was out of this world. Third grade, you have some big shoes to fill!
