Growing Up in Connecticut

The Hubs has super fond memories of his childhood in Windsor, Connecticut where he grew up surrounded by lots of family, especially several cousins his age...

He often tells Buddy Roller stories of weekly playdates where all family members would gather at one house, and he and his cousins would play for hours, often sleeping over until the next day. When he tells these stories, he gets so animated, his big brown eyes light up, and it's clear those memories mean a lot to him.

In early June, when he found out his mom was going to be in Connecticut, he quickly started organizing a family reunion of sorts, so that he could give Buddy Roller a tiny glimpse of the childhood he had. Since Buddy Roller is an only child, with no cousins nearby, he really has no idea what it's like to have family nearby for get-togethers, at a moment's notice.

With some planning, a little delegating and many phone calls, between Georgia, New York and Connecticut, The Hubs made it happen.  One night, at one of his aunt's house, sisters, brothers, cousins, aunts and uncles, young and old, and everyone in between, gathered. Some were meeting for the first time, and others hadn't seen each other in years.

Here are more pictures if you'd like to see...

I'm so proud of The Hubs for having a dream and making it a reality. He has so much going on in his life, yet he makes time for what is truly important. It's moments like these where I admire his tenacity, and it makes me fall in love with him all over again.
