Color Street's Munich Mulberry |
I recently tried another brand of nail strips. Here's my review of Color Street, and how they measure up to my latest obsession, Dashing Diva...
First, I should mention that I did not purchase Color Street. A friend gave them to me after she tried them and decided she didn't want them anymore. She gave me an opened package of a glitter color, and she also gave me an unopened package of the color, Munich Mulberry. I should also point out that her not wanting to use the nail strips did not influence my decision at all. My friend does not usually wear nail polish. She would rather go without.
I prepped my nails as instructed and attempted to try the glitter color first. The nail strips would not stick to my nails. In all fairness, the directions say to use immediately after opening. As I mentioned, the package was opened weeks before I received them, and that's the reason they did not work.
Next, I tried the solid color, Munich Mulberry. When I opened the Color Street (CS) package, I immediately smelled a strong odor of nail polish. I found the contents to be neatly and attractively packaged. Unlike Dashing Diva (DD), CS's nails strips are soft and more pliable which makes them super easier to apply. However, because of this, I found them to be more delicate and therefore easier to rip and damage. My application was less then perfect because of this. I do want to point out that I only tried CS once, and like anything else, I'm sure I would perfect it over time if I continued to use them.
I ended up removing CS after a couple days, more so because I didn't really love the color, Munich Mulberry. CS can only be removed with nail polish remover. The process was messy and due to the dark color of the polish, my hands and nails were left stained as would happen with any dark color.
Both brands are neatly and attractively packaged. Both offer an array of solids, glitters and designs. Both brands allow for the application of two manicures per package. CS promises to last 10 days without chipping. DD says you can wear up to 14 days. I can attest to DD's promise. CS costs a little bit more between $12 to $13 while DD is $6 to $8.
After trying both CS and DD, the clear winner for me is Dashing Diva. DD has no odor. It is easy to apply with no ripping or damaging the nail strips. I almost always get a perfect application. DD does not have to be used immediately after opening. I have used opened packages before, and DD does not lose its ability to stick. When I'm ready to remove DD, I simply peel off the strips. There is no need for nail polish remover. There is no staining. No mess. DD does leave a sticky residue, but that can be easily removed with a nail buffer. This is a minor complaint as far as I'm concerned because DD offers so many more benefits.
When it comes to cost, convenience, variety of colors, time, easy application and removal, Dashing Diva is my number one choice for nail strips. Hands down. I would recommend this product to anyone. It is a game changer for me.
