My Favorite Holiday Movies

The holidays with Chica

As I'm enjoying this holiday break with family, with no schedules and no alarm clocks, I'm also taking some time to watch movies I've seen again and again.  Some are family favorites, others are classics, and one new film is sure to become a tradition.

Here's my list of favorite holiday movies...

When It's The Holidays...

When it's the holidays, you can take a photo in front of a ginormous Christmas tree,

The cutest five year old in the whole wide world is like a present wrapped up in a big red satin bow,

My heart smiles with adoration when watching the two loves of my life spending quality time together,

And it fills me with so much joy and peace.

When it's the holidays, we spend time with special friends we don't get to see nearly as much as we'd like,

We eat way too much because there's just too much good food around,

And we spend time giving thanks and appreciation for those we work with every day...when it's the holidays.

Chalk Talk Thursday – The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

It's the most wonderful time of the year...the school year that is. Well almost. Aside from summer break, the holidays are the next best thing. And you can just feel it in the air, and you can see it on everyone's faces too. People just seem a lot nicer during the holidays...don't they?

At my school, we’re counting down to our much needed holiday break of two weeks! And we have only two more days to go!

You can tell it's a time to celebrate around here. First, there's Mr. Potter who was singing in his usual boisterous tone this morning as he made his way down the hall to pick up his testing bin, "Two more days, we only have two more days..."

Then there's Ms. Cooper.  She's the cutest elf at my school...not counting Buddy Roller of course. This week we're wearing our holiday best, and every year this little cutie outdoes everyone. For real. Love this teacher!

And no holiday around here would be complete without the annual visit from one Mr. Stensland. Although we don't see each other much during the school year, he always comes by to see me around this time of year to drop off a little something.  This year, like last, it was a bottle of lotion. A few years back, it was a Michael Buble Christmas CD that I still use to this day. And while I'm not the only teacher at school that he delivers treats to, it still makes me feel special.

But this place has many special teachers. And that's what makes us Summerour. Hope you're having a wonderful Thursday, wherever you are!

Three Signs It's Thanksgiving

I am especially thankful this Thanksgiving.  For the first time in forever, my mom, sister and I are all under the same roof celebrating this holiday.  And let me tell you, that is truly special.

Here are three tell tale signs it's Thanksgiving at my house.  First, there's FAMILY and that means lots of photo opps!

Second, we play GAMES. Jenga is one of our faves. It's quick, easy, and provides a lot of entertainment.

Third...FOOD.  And lots of it. Just take a look at all the leftovers in the fridge.  It's packed full. We have food for days.

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving with your family!
