What traditions are you sharing with your children? What meaningful memories are you creating with them they will never forget even when they become adults?
For Buddy Roller and me, it's going to the library. We started this tradition years ago, since before he could even talk. We've read countless books so far and have bonded, laughed and cuddled every night over stories about ladybugs, dinosaurs, frogs, trains, dragons and so much more.
Our ritual goes like this. We make trips to the library every three weeks. First we have to go in search of picture books. Buddy Roller gets to choose several...I'm not sure how he does it, but he almost always manages to pick really good ones. I also get a selection I think he will love. Sometimes we find an author we love, and we just get every book we can put our fingers on that that author has written. Some days we leave the library with as many as 22 titles! And it's no easy feat getting those books to the car!
As our routine goes, Buddy Roller always has to make his way to the computer in the children's section to play Math Blaster. And it's paid off...over the years, he's gotten so good in math.
I look forward to our trips at the library. We're building memories and spending quality time together.
