Here're two quick tips on how to choose the sweetest watermelon. First, choose the biggest and heaviest of them all. That thing should weigh more than it looks! And two, look for a creamy yellow spot on the melon (see photo below). The creamier and bigger the yellow color, the better! That just means your melon has been sitting on its rump getting plumper and sweeter for you.
My sister taught me a trick for cutting into this gigantic fruit. Just poke a long serrated knife into the side of the melon, and cut all the way around.
And voilá! The melon should not only be sweet, but really juicy as well.
