Do You Have IT?

Are you witty? Do you have IT (wits) when someone says something really sarcastic to you?

I don't...

21 Telltale Signs It's Summer

This could be my current situation...every day
  1. No alarm clocks necessary.
  2. Sleeping in is a most definite possibility.
  3. Afternoon naps are totally welcomed and have happened a few times already.
  4. I no longer wish for an extra day during the weekend.
  5. Frozen yogurt, or any other icy treat, is mandatory.
  6. My legs are shaved every two days.
  7. Pedicures are a must...every two weeks.
  8. You will most likely see my hair au naturel...that is curly/wavy/tousled. Yup that's a sure sign!
  9. I have more time to exercise.
  10. I can read a few more books.
  11. My deck is adorned with several potted plants.
  12. Deck living is happening more and more.
  13. I am a much happier and patient person. Really.
  14. Buddy Roller has more play dates.
  15. I get to go on more lunch dates with The Hubs.
  16. There's no more scarfing down food in 10 minutes during lunch.
  17. Life slows down....ahhhhh.
  18. Watermelon and corn on the cob become their own food groups.
  19. Laundry gets done when I feel like it.
  20. I don't know what time it is let alone what day it is!
  21. And finally, it's stinking hot in Atlanta...that's why a pool is oh so necessary!

A Father's Day Tribute to The Hubs

People have said when you're looking for a spouse, you should also pick someone who will be a great father one day. Who comes up with these things?

Yes, of course that would be ideal. But seriously, when you're picking a mate for life, you're living in the moment. I know I wasn't thinking of father material when I met The Hubs. I was a teenager and having kids was the furthest thing from my mind...

Treat Others How You Want to Be Treated

There's this old saying, a golden rule, that says you are to treat people the way you want to be treated.

Well, I beg to differ...

Wedded Wednesdays - Staying Connected

What's left after a very delicious dinner/date night at Goin' Coastal last week

Last month I had a very eye opening conversation with a colleague of mine. He and his wife were about to celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary, and he told me something that's had me reflecting ever since...

Do You Have IT?

Today is the first of many installments of "Do you have IT?" IT can refer to anything...but today's topic is all about driving.

So.  Women (and some of you men too) do you have IT when it comes to driving and parking in tight spaces?

Buddy Roller's Favorite Books

Buddy Roller and I make frequent stops at the bookstore, and nothing makes me happier than when he runs over and picks up a book that he has read before and loves...

How Did You Tell Him?

Now that Father's Day is only one week away, I can't help but think about how I told The Hubs he was going to be a father...for the first time.

How to Choose the Sweetest Watermelon

It's my family's favorite during the summer months, but it can be a little overwhelming choosing the right melon. No one wants to get home and find that the juiciest of all fruits, isn't sweet at all...

What Movies Could You Watch Again and Again?

Once in a while, when I allow myself to be a coach potato (because sometimes there's nothing better than laying horizontal and watching a good movie), I'll flip through the channels and, if I'm lucky, I'll happen upon a movie that I just have to watch...

Do the Things That Scare You

I had an emotional morning! I was boohooing and crying my eyes out. Yes I sure was.  Let's just say that I witnessed my son in a very challenging and uncomfortable situation, and not wanting to be that hovering mom, I gave him the best advice I could think of while trying not to cry in front of him...

The Problem with Dining in a Booth

Classic NY Style Cheesecake at Hi Life Restaurant

Before kid (BK), The Hubs and I used to always sit, side by side, in a booth, having uninterrupted adult conversation, whenever we dined out. That all changed when Buddy Roller came along...

"Never Mind."

These two little words have been on my mind. And for good reason. Buddy Roller said them to me the other day, and they sort of really hurt my heart.

Want to know why?

Would You Split the Check?

Olazzo's Shrimp and Crab Rosé

When dining out with friends, and it comes time to paying the bill, would you split the tab? Or, would you request separate checks?

What if someone orders significantly more than you? What if their party is larger than yours? Is it fair to go halfsies on a bill when you didn't technically eat half the food?

Selfies with the Bestie

It was just a few days ago that I was with her. My BFSF. She's the one I can truly be myself around...without judgment.  She's the one who can give me constructive criticism, yet she does it in such a way that I don't become sensitive or hurt.

As always, when we get together there's no shortage of mischief...or laughter. It's just that way with us. Good times. Always.

Here are more photos of us if you'd like to see...

A Peek Inside the "New" Summerour

My teammates and I met up this week for a tour of our new school. And I've been keeping my fingers crossed, that my new classroom, in my brand spanking new school, has at least one window...

What Tops Your Frozen Yogurt?

I love this new trend of frozen yogurt shops all over. It's like having things your way...any flavor and any toppings you want.

On our recent trip to the D.C. area, the BFSF and I went in search of a little frozen yogurt shop in walking distance of our hotel...

What I Always Forget to Pack

We've been in four different hotels in seven days. I'm pretty good when it comes to packing. I think of everything. Well. Nearly everything...

Why Atlanta Needs an Eggspectation

Chocolate chip pancakes
I've said before that I love to eat. Eating is an experience that brings everyone together, around a table, sharing, laughing and living.  We recently had the opportunity to dine at an eatery in Silver Spring, Maryland.  It's called Eggspectation, and I strongly believe that we need one of these in Atlanta. I do.

They serve the fluffiest pancakes.  For real!  You can get breakfast all day long, they have an extensive menu to choose from, and everything from their crepes and omelettes to their beverages are just simply...delicious. The restaurant itself is warm and inviting, and the staff gives you the VIP treatment making you feel like a treasured guest.

Check out more photos of their amazing food...
